Hey Ya'll

I am writing on behalf of Mrs. Shirley Kessler. Uncle Jim, I need instructions for Grandma to get a blogger account.

Sincerely, Henry (on his father's account)

Two pictures that make me smile

What can I say?

Interesting poster in Shelburne Falls

Zoe --- who?? I saw this poster in Shelburne Falls and I had to look twice. This is a listing of shows coming to the Memorial Theater in beautiful downtown SF (that doesn't stand for San Francisco, by the way). It took me a while to notice that the next show afterward is a performance by the Tuvan Throat Singers. Seems like a natural follow-up to me.

Another photo from the archive

Here is another photo from the cache of old film that we took to be developed the other day. Anyone look familiar?

techno-city

You may think me technically challenged for having posted doubles of some of the photos...I actually wanted to send a picture of three blonds but the photo store mixed up my CD with that of someone else.

Welcome Booker; Josh's wedding photo (almost)

First, thanks to Booker for joining the list of participants. Lots of us are either shy, or are having technical problems (although I would never mention Hillel by name), or have washed their hands of the whole idea. There is also the mysterious gremlin factor. My invitation to Shirl seemed to have completely hexed her entire computer, and even Stu, our technical wizard, had difficulties with the invite. Here is the latest interesting challenge. I actually got one roll of Josh and Beth wedding pictures back, and cleverly got them to put the photos on a CD so I could upload it to the blog. When I tried to load the pictures, though, it turns out they had given me a CD of someone else's party. Anyone recognize any of these people?

Kesslerville and days gone by

Hi guys. I've been travelling for a bit and just now have gotten a chance to log in and experience all that is Kesslerville. It seems like a wonderful way for all of us to stay in touch. Nonetheless, I can't help but feel nostalgic for the old days. Technology has its benefits, but at what cost? Yes, it is great that the new, shiny, powerful Kesslerville, with all of its bells and whistles, can come in and dazzle us all with its song and dance, but did it have to do so by muscling out the little guy? Isn't there room in this great big world of ours for both Kesslerville and The Picayune Inquirer?

Here is a link to a Dave Barry interview in which he takes up the Neil Diamond question. It's about half way through the interview if you're pressed for time. (Views expressed by Mr. Barry are not necessarily those of this blog, but may be humorous.)( Unlike the rest of this blog.)

Here are some photos from Hsi Lai temple, the monastery where Pippi was doing her thesis research. Part of the monster photo pile we got back from the drug store. Pretty outrageous place. Next time, I'll remember to turn all of the pictures right side up. In the meantime, use your imagination.

More photos from a trove of old film that we took to be developed. This is from Asaph's world tour. For some reason we had schlepped him to Harvard Yard and made him pose in front of the statue of John Harvard. (It's not really John Harvard, but it really is Asaph.) We took a few more rolls of film back to be developed today. I can't imagine what they will be.

shalom y'all
The Israeli delegation has returned home safely if not soundly...great flights....we had a great time seeing everyone. It was hard to believe that so many of us were able to gather for both Henry's bar mitzvah and Josh and Beth's wedding. We'll send some of our photos when we get organized.
Hillie, Hana, Asaf, Yuval, Dan, and Lior

Here is the photo I mention in the post next to this one. I'll figure this out eventually.

A week or so ago, I took some old film to be developed, and I found this photo of Moses doing some construction work. I think that this was before construction of the elevators, the helipad and the atrium, but I'm not sure.

Here's another interesting link. Can you spot the interesting photo? http://skidsteersearch.com/dealers/4971/meetOurStaff_1.html

I know I said there wouldn't be a lot about Josh and Beth's wedding, but I found this link that could not be ignored: http://home.planet.nl/~fond.mh/ Coincidence? I think not.

Well known free-style dancer, bon vivant, fruit salad maker and party goer Avi Feldman (a/k/a Avi Feldman) recently let it slip that he and his sister and brother (who for some reason are not named Feldman) started a sibling blog. That Avi! Always ahead of the game!
Given the family track record, I have serious doubts about whether a Kessler (etc.) blog will make it, especially since I don't know much about blogging, but it's free. Also, the great rush of post-Josh-and-Beth's-Wedding enthusiasm may help get things off to a good start, unless we are held back by the unavoidable post-Josh-and-Beth's-Wedding bickering, griping and complaining. Well, it is a family blog, so enthusiasm, bickering griping and complaining are all welcomed.

You may be wondering why there is not much about Josh and Beth's wedding. It's mostly because I don't have any photos to post, and I want some time for the enormity of the experience to sink in...

This photo goes with the next post. Or somewhere nearby, anyhow.

Here are some photos of me, Pippi, Rosa and Avi Feldman at the movies. The community-owned movie theater in Northampton, the Academy of Music, had a fund raiser featuring movies about food. We saw Eat, Drink, Man, Woman, which I highly recommend, and ate egg rolls and dumplings (also recommended) and candied ginger (recommended only in small doses). And popcorn. The next night, we rented Tortilla Soup, which was a made-for-cable film that took the characters, almost all the plot and a good chunk of the dialogue from Eat, Drink, Man, Woman and changed the setting from Taiwan (with a Chinese family) (or maybe Hong Kong, ask Pippi) to Los Angeles, with a Mexican-American family. Since the plot involves a character who is a master chef, this also involved translating from Chinese food to Mexican food. I don't recommend Tortilla Soup except as a learning experience: you learn how to take a brilliant, subtle, funny, touching movie and make it unbrilliant, unsubtle, unfunny and totally out of touch. I loved seeing the contrasts. I'm not sure that Pippi, Rosa and Avi were quite as enthusiastic....
