Umm... Hey

Hey, everyone whats up!! I finally got this whole thing working and say some really cool pictures that were fun and hilarious. Then I read a little bit and realized that reading is also fun and hilarious. So thats about where I am at. Umm... if anyone isn't doing anything tommarow or today depending on when everyone is reading this Tuesday Nov. 1st me and my friend DJ Chrispies' have a show on bearcast which is online radio. You can check us out from 8pm to 10pm Tuesday's at www.bearcast.uc.edu this week is really cool beacuse we are playing our interview with Amy Ray the chick from the Indigo Girls. So yea!! Chloe's Bat Mitzvah: Myth or Legend?

The night was dark and still, but the air in the room was redolent with the exotic aromas of hors d'oeuvres. The throng, assembled from many distant lands and cultures, took in the ancient rituals: the Hora, the candle ceremony, the chair thing, the crazy DJ. The Putnam National Club had seen many arcane gatherings. It had seen weddings. It had seen cocktail parties. It had seen Kiwanis Golf Outings. But this was different. This was something the Club had never seen before and would never see again. This was Chloe's Bat Mitzvah. And that made all the difference.

Greetings to everyone who's joined the Kesslerville editorial staff recently (that includes you Lucie, Donna and Romy!). We want to invite everyone to sign up and to put in their own contributions. Avi Feldman's 15 Minutes of Fame

Avi Feldman (see photo), who has inspired a generation of idealists, is becoming even more famous. His unmistakeable mug recently appeared in the October 24 edition of Newsweek, not to mention the Newsweek online edition: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9707667/site/newsweek/ . (The on-line edition even has a link to a clip from Ivory Towers, the college soap opera that brought Avi to a wider public; the clip unfortunately doesn't include Avi. ) Admittedly, it's not the same as being in the Greenfield Recorder or Western Massachusetts Health Care News, but it's a start.

Some of you may have missed the pithy review of the book THE MEANING OF TINGO in the January, 2005 issue of the Picayune Inquirer. I thought as much. To remedy this I am forwarding a few of the words and phrases that appear in the book. The book deals with a man who is obsessed with dictionaries and he highlights some of the more interesting words that he has found.

Wedding photos

You may recall from an earlier post that I got some of my Josh and Beth's wedding photos back from the drug store with a CD of the photos so that I could post them here. Unfortunately, the people in the CD were all strangers, at a mysterious party for someone I've never seen before ( I put up a photo of three blond girls from the mystery party so it wouldn't be a total loss). The good (or bad) news is that I traded the blond girls and their party photos in on a CD of the wedding. Here are some of the photos. You may want the blond girls back, but it's too late. It's just us chickens...

Non-fiction poetry

At Josh's wedding, he told us that his friend Loncar wrote poems along the lines of: "I was driving downtown/And I spilled/Coffee in my lap..." Josh refused to accept this as poetry, on the ground that it was merely reporting an event that had actually taken place: "Loncar, that's not poetry -- that really happened to you.."

Thus was born the new genre of non-fiction poetry, or as some call it, journalistic verse (at least it could be verse). The official documentor of the new form is that man-about-literature Avi Feldman. But Feldman is busy with college, and I can't wait any longer. There will be more to come when the mighty Feldman steps up with his notebook, but in the meanwhile, here is a poem that happened to me only this morning.

"Lester's Request".

The polka show was on the radio
and Lester asked Billy
to play "The Beer Barrel Polka"
And he said
"In heaven
there is no beer --
and that's why
we drink it in Chicopee."

I had to go to Shelburne Falls today to get some new glasses, and I decided to wander around taking photos for the blog. Here are the two Shelburne Falls tourist attractions, the famous Bridge of Flowers and the Glacial Potholes, along with a scene outside of our favorite restaurant.
